An Affiliate’s Story

Thesis Theme for WordPress: Options Galore and a Helpful Support Community

The other day I was pondering the idea of why I became involved with affiliate network marketing.  As I was contemplating about it, I remembered back many years ago when I first began to toy with the idea of starting my own business.  My first venture was becoming involved with an MLM company.  When I first joined up, I was a little skeptical about it.  But, after I attended a few events and learned about the product line, I decided to dive right in.  However, as time went by, I learned that the MLM business model wasn’t for me.  The things that turned me off about it were as follows:

  • I didn’t enjoy direct selling to my friends and family
  • I just didn’t like face to face direct selling
  • The constant meetings and events.
  • Signing people up in my downline and watching them do nothing
  • After time, beginning to dread the whole process

I’m not here to put down MLM companies, as I know plenty of people and business associates that have done very well with it.  I’m just saying that it was not for me and it didn’t feel in line with my personality.

After I left the MLM company, I continued to explore business opportunities.  As I matured and researched many more businesses, I discovered that I was starting to form a better defined idea in my mind of what kind of business model with which I was looking to get involved.  I knew that I didn’t want to do any face to face direct selling.  I didn’t want to approach my friends and family again and I didn’t want to feel that I needed to attend countless meetings and events to make it work.

My day jobs have always been of a physical nature, which was what I had always been drawn to.  But, I began to realize that, as I got older, the physical nature of my work would eventually begin to take it’s toll.  In addition, I was also struggling to make time for my family, friends and also have time for myself. What I needed was a business model that would allow me to set my own hours, not to be physical, and have the opportunity to make at least a decent living.

Well, as fate may have it, one day a lightbulb went on.  As I was talking to one of my customers, they mentioned the idea of information marketing.  Information marketing is basically the marketing and selling of information (HowTo) products through a variety of ways but mainly on the internet.  I was so intrigued of what I heard that day, that I went home that night and began a massive online search for anything about information marketing.

What I found was an onslaught of information and I mean a ton.  Information overload!  Ok, so where do I begin.  There was so much stuff being offered by so many companies, that I didn’t know where to start.  Since I didn’t have anyone to guide me, I began to request information from many companies.  Most of these companies had exceptional sales pages that really compelled you to enter your email request their info.

I ended up purchasing a lot of products and spent quite a bit of money in the process.  I learned a ton about information marketing and I paid dearly for that knowledge.  I realized that the business model for information marketing was right in line with what I had in mind for my own business.

But, with all of the information that I had purchased, I didn’t really have a precise method of implementing the business model.  What I needed was a step by step course that would take me from knowing nothing about information marketing and allow me to put it all together to actually create a profitable business.

Enter Jimmy D. Brown…  One of the companies that I had purchased information from had recommended a link to Jimmy’s Blog.  When I clicked the link and started reading the blog, my eyes began to open.  It seemed that Jimmy had been involved in internet marketing for quite some time and he had put together a multitude of products that were just what I was looking for.  I was impressed and finally hopeful.

Of course, after visiting Jimmy’s Blog, I immediately began to do some more research on Jimmy D. Brown to see what people were saying about Jimmy and his products. My search found nothing but positive feedback about Jimmy and his products.  At that point, I decided to try out one of his products to see if it was what it claimed to be.

My first purchase was Jimmy’s course on information marketing called Small Reports Fortune.  Small Reports Fortune is a well laid out easily digestible course on how to create a successful business by creating, marketing, and selling small 7-15 page reports on any niche subject that you are either an expert on or passionate about.  I was blown away at all of the information that I received in that course.  I was extremely pleased with the value and information that Jimmy provided. I immediately realized two things.  Small Reports Fortune has given me the game plan that I can use to get started immediately with creating my business.  And more importantly, Jimmy D. Brown is someone that I can trust.

I can tell you honestly, that I continue to use some of the original concepts and ideas that I received in that original Small Reports Fortune course.  I was so happy with Jimmy and his products that I additionally purchased his affiliate network marketing and training course called “Affiliatenaire”.

Affiliatenaire is a step by step weekly training course on how to create a successful affiliate marketing business. Created in the same easily digestible style as Small Reports Fortune, Affiliatenaire starts at the beginning and tells you what to do, why you are doing it, and when to do it.  The course takes you by the hand and supports you along the way.  It also includes tons of tutorials and extras that can allow anyone who is motivated to be successful.

I truly owe a great deal of my success to Jimmy D. Brown and his fantastic products.  If you check out Jimmy’s Blog, you will find that he has many many more products available and that each one covers a different avenue of the internet marketing world.

So to answer my own original question “Why did I become an affiliate”, the answer is as follows:

  • Affiliate marketing meets all my own personal business plan criteria
  • Affiliate marketing doesn’t require direct face to face selling
  • Affiliate marketing doesn’t require meetings or events
  • Affiliate marketing doesn’t even require my own product or service
  • I can conduct business through the internet from my own home
  • I can set my own hours and create my own schedule
  • I like that the success of my business is directly related to my own efforts.
  • I have the opportunity to create an affiliate residual income
  • I enjoy the process!

I was fortunate to find not only someone to trust, but someone who created the exact products that I needed to get started from the beginning.  And also provided the tools, information, and support that I needed to be able to create a successful online business.

So, what’s your story?  Feel free to comment on why you became involved in internet marketing.
